HISTORICAL TRAILS / HIKES

A Patapsco Heritage Trail map depicting the entire length of the Trail from Ellicott City to the BWI Trail is currently being developed by the FPVHG. A previous map, a self-guiding Heritage Trail map, was developed by FPVHG several years ago. This map focused on just the Avalon/Orange Grove sections of the Park and was funded by a grant from Preservation Maryland/Maryland Historical Trust Special Grant Fund and the Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park, Ltd. It highlights 15 historical and archeological sites in the Avalon, Glen Artney and Orange Grove areas of the Park, in both Baltimore and Howard Counties. Thirteen interpretive signs have now been completed and installed along the Trail (Nov 2006).
