PATAPSCO HERITAGE GREENWAY MANAGEMENT PLAN
Patapsco Heritage Management Plan Study: One of the many undertakings of the FPVHG was an evaluation of the current relationships between various business, community associations, and environmental organizations in and around the Patapsco River - with special attention to the area between route 40 on the North and Route 1 on the South. The area includes the communities of Ellicott City, Oella, Relay and Elkridge. It was later broadened to also include Catonsville. The first and second phases of the Study have been completed under the auspices of The Maryland Heritage Area Authority and has been published for review. Programs and projects in which FPVHG would support individuals, communities, local and/or state government in implementing are included in the Study.
The Patapsco Heritage Management Study is currently available with various county and State agencies, local elected officials, and various county libraries near the proposed Heritage Area. FPVHG board members are also available upon request to address interested organizations. We are also anticipating having the entire Study available on this website in the near future. If there is widespread support for the Study, there are provisions for a phase three in which the Study could become a Plan. We expect to explore the feasibility of continuing on to a Plan over the next two years.
The links to the study are listed to the right. Copies may also
be viewed at the Catonsville Library. The accompanying maps are available
for review there as part of the Patapsco Heritage Greenway Management
Study.
